Emergency: shower, eye and face

Throughout Canada, First Aid Eye Care stations are required in settings such as classrooms and laboratories containing dangerous and corrosive chemicals; and in workplaces where the potential of injury to the eye is possible. Having the right emergency eye wash kit in your classroom or workplace can mean the difference between minor irritation and permanent, severe injury to the eyes.

Also in a health and safety perception, every workers should know where is the nearest eye wash station from their workplace. A OH&S councelor should make sure that they know where it is and could audit the workers with a 5 minutes simulation. In this simulation, one worker simulates an eye injury and another worker helps him to reach the eye wash station. Sometimes, orientation can be harder with only one eye available. As soon as possible, the two workers must head to the infirmary to evaluate the gravity of the injury and to make sure that the foreign object is removed.
